Many players are confused about what azoth is in New World, what it does, or how they can obtain it. Here we will answer those question for you, the player. The goal of this article is to bring clarity to any of those whom are unfamiliar with azoth, or for those that are familiar, hopefully will learn something new. Let’s go ahead and get started on the three most common questions of azoth. What is Azoth in New World? Why do you need it? How can you obtain it?
What Is Azoth in New World?
Azoth is a type of resource that isn’t used for crafting. It’s actually considered more of a type of currency. This isn’t currency for purchasing items like you may think though. It has other uses, and has a cap to how many you can hold. History says that it’s one of the biggest sources of power in New World. It’s the reason all things living, and dead can be revived.
Why Do You Need It?
What makes azoth special compared to other currency is that you just can’t use it for everything. Let’s discuss each way that it can be used so that you will become more knowledgeable on how you want to save it, or spend it. Either way, keep in mind that there’s a 1,000 cap on the item.
You’ll notice that respecing your weapon is free for a bit of time. However, once you get that skill set to 10, it’ll start asking for a certain amount of azoth. So by then, it’s recommended that you do some research in figuring out which build you want for each weapon. That way you can put your azoth to better use.
Fast travel is what azoth is most commonly used for. There’s a base fee to where you want to travel, and then it goes up from there. There are additional azoth costs depending on different circumstances. Usually it’s based on how far you are from where you want to go, and how much weight you’re carrying. To save azoth, we recommend recalling to your house or your chosen settlement, unload, then fast travel to your next destination. Unless you’re transferring your resources to sell at another location where it’s increased in price.
You may notice when you craft certain items such as weapons and armor for example, that there’s an option to apply azoth. When applying it to a craft item it increases chances for attributes, perks, and gem slots. It also has a chance to increase the gear score. Not to mention, the better materials you add with it contribute to the gear score as well. The options are adding 15 on the lowest end (other than none), to adding 75 azoth at the highest end. You won’t be able to choose a direct number, but the game does offer tiered options.
How Can You Obtain It?
The good news is that there are a few ways to obtain azoth in New World. Online you’ll find most articles just mention doing quests and closing corruption breaches. However, you can also purchase them on the trading post, and you will find items that you can insert into tools that will give you increased drop chances. The item you would need is a Drop of Azoth Oil and apply it to a crafting item. Once you do that, you can get the Azoth Extraction Perk for that tool.
Well if you didn’t know what azoth was in New World, now you know. From the time this article is written, changes may become available. If so, I will try to get back here and keep it updated. Thanks for reading and let me know if you know of any other ways to use or obtain azoth that wasn’t mention.
