If you have been following the newest Pokémon spin-off to join the already stacked roster, you’ll know that Pokémon Unite has already graced the Nintendo Switch as of July this year. This game has allowed players to experience Pokémon from yet another fresh angle, with RTS/MOBA style gameplay giving players a new way to compete together and battle with their favorite monsters. However, what you might not be aware of, is that this game will actually be a cross platform title.
Pokémon Unite Begins Pre-Registration
Pokémon Unite is set to launch on mobile devices on the 22nd of September 2021 and pre-registration has already begun on the Apple and Google Play store. Not only will mobile fans get to play this game, they will also be able to play cross-platform with Nintendo Switch players. This accessibility is sure to give this title much more of a chance of being a huge success.
Fans who are playing on Switch have already received an early access gift only available on this platform in the form of Zeraora. However, rumor has it that mobile fans will be treated to a feline Pokémon who will be exclusively available for pre-register players. We don’t know what this Pokémon will be yet but there is scope for some great fighters. Persian, Purloin, or Glameow. Plenty of options.
How Does This Game Play?
For long time fans of the series, this will feel pretty alien. However, fans of Leagues of Legends, DOTA, or Heroes of the Storm will have a good understanding of what’s going on here. The game on both platforms will see five players in each team face off in a battle arena and will have to use their various moves to gain a tactical advantage. However, unlike a lot of games of this nature, you aren’t aiming to take a base, but instead trying to bank kills when you score in dedicated scoring zones. It’s very much a combat-oriented game and so far, it has been received rather well.
However, Pokémon fans will appreciate familiar progression systems that see players gain XP, evolve their Pokémon by progressing levels and as a result, gain new moves to battle with more efficiency. It’s a blend of the old and the new, and it’s exciting to see this franchise evolve once again.
