Within the world of gaming, not every project hits the ground running. No Man’s Sky was met with a lot of criticism before becoming the title it is today. Among Us took two years to finally develop the fan base it deserved and the same can be said about Final Fantasy XIV.
In the early stages, this MMO title was very poorly received by both fans and critics. However, this did not discourage Square Enix . They went away, polished the game and after a few very strong years, this MMO is arguably the finest game of this nature within the genre.
This success has come about through constant tweaking to make this game better, countless patches, expansions and updates. Even today, we are eagerly awaiting yet another free update for this title. So with that in mind, we want to explore Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker and let you know what you can expect from this new expansion.
All We Know About Endwalker
Firstly, let’s get the release date out in the open. This expansion is scheduled for November of this year. The update will drop more specifically on the 23rd of November. However, for those that pre-order this expansion, you will be able to jump into the action from as early as the 19th of November. The standard edition will set you back $39.99 and the more luxurious digital collectors edition, you’ll need to part with $59.99.
We were also treated to the first official trailer for the expansion which showcases the narrative we can expect this time around. We can expect a variety of new areas, some returning characters, and a visual display that is right up there with some of the finest FF titles in modern times.
A new story and new areas are always the most popular aspects of expansions. However, gameplay is reportedly going to receive a shake-up too. There will be two new classes. Players will be able to take on the role of the Sage, a new healer option. Or alternatively, they will be able to play as the DPS melee class, the Reaper.
The Sage will allow players to heal through the use of floating turrets called Nouliths, and is set to offer one of the most offensive healing options yet in the series. Whereas the Reaper class will allow players to hack and slash at a rapid pace with some of the most intense close quarters combat imaginable. Each of these classes will require you to be at least level 70 to play a campaign with, so if you want to main the Reaper or Sage class, a grinding session or two wont go amiss.
Then out of nowhere, Square Enix informed us during their keynote speech that a new, Stardew Valley style mode will be hitting FFXIV in the new update. The details are very much still under wraps but what we do know is that this content will be aimed at more casual players and will offer a much more calm and relaxing gameplay experience for all that play this mode.
These were the biggest recent announcements pertaining to the upcoming Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker expansion. However, there is so much more on offer which you need to check out. Here is a quick checklist running through the best of the rest:
- Two new raids: Pandemonium and an unnamed 24-man Alliance raid
- New boss battle: Anima
- New area: Garlemald
- Dow scaling of Boss HP and other aspects of the game that is causing performance issues
