For the last few decades, gamers have had their own personal Christmas and birthday rolled into one thanks to E3, the global gaming expo that tends to grant wishes to the gaming faithful on the regular. Now, due to a global pandemic, the festivities were very much muted last year as most studios scrambled to stay in action and meet deadlines. However, this year we seem to be back on track and that can only mean one thing, new and exciting games being announced.
So with that in mind, we want to take a look back at the events of E3 2021 as the dust settles and see what Nintendo fans have to be excited about. Here is our rundown of all the best Nintendo Direct had to offer at E3 2021.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild II
As we watched Nintendo Direct with bated breath, this was the only thing that fans wanted and as Nintendo tends to do, they delivered in fine fashion. We were treated to a trailer for the upcoming sequel to arguably the best Zelda game of all time and what we seen looks very promising.
There is a new, larger world to explore, new enemies, new abilities and a much more vertical map design. A lot of things about this title remain undisclosed, however, there is plenty to get excited about and quite frankly, we are just happy that this game is finally officially announced.
The next big hitter to pop up was Samus Sam who returns for another adventure in Metroid Dread. This game sees the series return to it’s 2D roots and will pick up the story right after the events of Metroid: Fusion. This game promises to be a nostalgic blast from the past with all the modern gaming tropes that will make this game a real contender for the best running and gunning action game in the series yet. This game drops on the 8th of October this year, so it’s not a long to wait until you can get your hands on this one.
Super Monkey Ball Returns
Then popping up out of nowhere was Super Monkey ball. AiAi returns to offer us the weird and wacky puzzle platformer bliss that this series has become synonymous with over the years. We haven’t seen this series produce a title in quite some time, so we reckon a more modern iteration of this game may spark the franchise into life again, introduce a new generation to this wacky format and perhaps we will see more in the future. But for now, lets just be excited that Super Monkey Ball is back.
There were also some other incredible announcements that will please many Nintendo fans. Here is a list detailing the best of the rest for Nintendo fans at E3 2021:
- Wario returns in Warioware: Get it Together
- Mario breaks out the 9 iron in Mario Golf: Super Rush
- Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin set to arrive on 9th July
- Shin Megami Tensei V closes in on it’s November release with new trailer
- PS2 Era camera based horror Fatal Frame returns with new title Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to Recieve HD remake
- Mario Party Superstars to make second appearance on the Nintendo Switch
- Tekken’s Kazuya is making his way to Super Smash Bros: Ultimate
